Slit Seeding Should be done to establish new turf in bare areas, or if a lawn is extremely thin. Slit seeding slices the ground and drops seed into those slices. This allows excellent seed to soil contact which results in maximum germination rates. Fall is always the best time for slit seeding.
Let Your Lawn Breathe!
Aeration is a very important part of maintaining a healthy lawn. Some important benefits include:
- Improving air exchange between soil and atmosphere
- Enhanced fertilizer and water uptake
- Reduces compaction
- Allows roots to spread and strengthen
- Reduces thatch
Over seeding immediately after aeration is a great way to thicken up established lawns, and introduce newer and better varieties of grass to the lawn. This usually will be done in the early fall for best results.
